Sticking my head out from under a pile of clothes

Things are quite out of control here at the house with three boys. This time of year is particularily chaotic. Sping means the big clothing switcheroo. And for those of you who have no experience of this phenom...I may add that it can be clearly related to one of the eight levels of Buddhist Hell. That would be the too-many-clothing-to-deal-with-realm. In that hell you are condemned to sort through an endless pile of clothes, the pile continues to grow as you continue sorting (sounds much like my reality). First, I have three years times three boys worth of clothing stuck in Aidan's closet. Thats size newborn to 2, times three babies. Of course there was quite a bit of hand-me-downing, but there were also some new accumulations with each child and that is not accounting for the different seasons each boy was born into (winter-spring-fall respectively). That closet is somewhat reminiscent to the one that Carrie was forced to sit in by her mother, insane with christian love and fervour. I am sure each of those clothes are psychically trying to conjure fire and pigs blood, being crammed in there all that time and clearly being ignored.

So, I discovered Freecycle. Check it out in your area! I offered all my baby clothes, after tossing the idea in my head over and over again whether I should sort through them all AGAIN and have a yard sale. I've been at the clothing shuffle for three days and I came to the conclusion that I would rather have an anal probe than do that. So, I offered up my clothes and I have found a good home, I hope, to the older baby stuff and perhaps one for the little baby stuff. That means some sorting is involved. Oh well. Let's blame the local hospital's We don't reveal the sex of the baby during an ultrasound policy for that one.

Problem number one solved. That means all I need to do is go through Owen's stuff, store what will fit him again in the fall, hand the rest to Harry, then repeat for Harry, except its not as easy to directly hand-me-down from Harry to Aidan since there is quite a jump in sizes, so I have to guess what might fit Aidan in the fall, and what will later, and then go through Aidan's stuff and on it goes. I've been rather generous with the giveaway pile might I add. Anything in fall or dark colors goes directly in the giveaway pile since Aidan is a Spring and not a Fall like the other kids. Weird things I pay attention to. Incidentally, the Orange Pants are still kicking around. Harry is not over that yet.

At this very moment , he is watching the Life and Death of Peter Sellers, as per his insistant request.

Okay, I decided to take a break from the clothing shuffle. I did'nt mention that I need to do that to my own stuff. As with any clean up task, it gets worse before it gets better. I am currently at the height of the worst part - Hence why I am blogging. I also happen to have perfected the art of procrastination.

Back to the grind. Being a stay-at-home-mom is just peachy at times.

Well congrats on your creative decluttering of the clothing. Hmm, was that creepy with all the cs or what?

Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal?

His goal: transcend dental medication.
